PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chlorine sterilization method which enables a reduction in the concentration of chloroamines and an improvement in sterilizing power due to free chlorine, and realizes reduced chlorine odor and skin irritation. SOLUTION: The chlorine sterilization method is a method for sterilizing contaminated water containing at least one of ammonia and amines, and fungi, and comprises a process for irradiating ultrasonic waves to the contaminated water in presence of a photocatalyst, and a process for removing at least one of ammonia and amines generated in the irradiation process.
