The engine has an injection mechanism with a nozzle needle (20) closing or opening an injection opening. The needle is operated directly by a control magnet such that the needle is pulled against a clamping force of a spring unit (24) under opening of the opening when the magnet is supplied with current and the spring unit presses the needle against the force under closing of the opening when the magnet is not supplied with current.
