<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve alert movements with an increased acceleration in an autonomous moving robot. <P>SOLUTION: This autonomous moving robot 1 includes: an obstacle detecting sensor 65 provided in a casing to detect an object in the surroundings; and an inclination angle measuring means 8 for detecting the angle of inclination of the casing. According to the measured angle of the inclination angle measuring means, the obstacle detecting sensor varies the detection range RS. According to another effective method, a plurality of obstacle detecting sensors are provided at different angles to the inclining direction of the autonomous moving robot, and according to the angle measured by the inclination angle measuring means, the signals of the plurality of obstacle detecting sensors are selected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
