<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve alert movements with an increased acceleration in an autonomous moving robot. <P>SOLUTION: This autonomous moving robot 1 includes: an obstacle detecting sensor 65 provided in a casing to detect an object in the surroundings; and an inclination angle measuring means 8 for detecting the angle of inclination of the casing. According to the measured angle of the inclination angle measuring means, the obstacle detecting sensor varies the detection range RS.
