PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet system of reluctance-type dynamo-electric machine which can perform a wide range of variable speed operation from low-speed revolution to high-speed revolution, in small size and high output. SOLUTION: In the permanent magnet system of reluctance-type dynamo-electric motor comprising a stator which is made of a stator core having armature winding stored in a slot and a rotor which is made of a rotor core which is provided with a plurality of magnetic barriers by cavities so that sections (d axes) where magnetic flux is easy to pass and sections (q axes) where magnetic flux is hard to pass may be made alternately and in which permanent magnets are arranged in the cavities, being positioned inside the stator, the rotor is constituted so that it may fulfill the relation of W<SB>dmin</SB>P/2πR≥65, defining that the shortest distance between the cavity and the above permanent magnet arranged in the direction of the q axis is W<SB>dmin</SB>, that the number of poles is P, and that the radius of the rotor is R [m].
