PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling the first explosion of an internal combustion engine capable of providing a smooth initial operating performance. SOLUTION: This method for controlling the first explosion of the internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder discrimination step for discriminating the cylinders of the internal combustion engine formed of a plurality of cylinders and an ignition step for igniting the discriminated cylinder at a prescribed timing. In the cylinder discrimination step, a cylinder group different by a half cycle from the others are discriminated based on crank signals and cam signals, and the discriminated cylinder group is ignited at the prescribed timing.
