PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly raise an engine output in a transient process from a partial cylinder operation to an all-cylinder operation when a variable cylinder internal combustion engine is accelerated in such a state that the partial cylinder operation is performed. SOLUTION: When a requested acceleration is equal to or more than a reference acceleration in such a state (S101) that the partial cylinder operation is performed in the variable cylinder internal combustion engine (S103), a part of exhaust gases in a bank operated in the partial cylinder operation is allowed to flow into the exhaust passage of a bank in rest (S104) to drive a supercharger for the bank in rest by the exhaust gases.
