FIELD: plastic working of metals, namely processes for making forged products with square or rectangular cross section in forging presses. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preliminary radial forging of ingot; further final forging of formed blank. Preliminary forging is performed with use of four strikers in four-striker forging apparatus of forging press while providing additional macro-shears of metal in cross plane of blank and with deformation degree no less than 7% at each squeezing. At process next relation is satisfied: F = (1.1 - 3.0)F1 where F and F1 - surface area of forged piece respectively. Final forging is performed with use of two strikers in forging press for forming forged piece with desired cross section. ^ EFFECT: improved quality of metal, simplified forging process. ^ 2 ex, 1 tbl |
