<p>An autofocus system is provided when the position of an AF area which is a target range of autofocus (AF) is changed, which can change (coarsely adjust) the position of the AF area to any one of a plurality of predetermined coarse adjustment positions using one direction indication operation device (e.g., joystick) and can perform fine-tuning and coarse adjustment using one direction indication operation device also when fine-tuning of the position of the AF area is enabled to thereby realize space-saving of the AF area operation device, improvement of operability and reduction of manufacturing cost or the like. When the magnitude of the angle of tilt of a joystick 32 is smaller than a default value, a CPU 30 of an AF area operation section 16 continuously moves the AF area in the tilting direction, carries out fine-tuning and moves, when the magnitude of the angle of tilt is equal to or greater than a default value, the AF area discretely to the nearest coarse adjustment position set in the tilting direction.</p> |
