A sacrificial disc protection system includes a CD or DVD type disc protecting covering 17 of the type that can be in place during disc 5 storage or whilst the disc 5 is in use within a compatible player. A thin pre-cut transparent covering that is closely matched to the size of a standard disc 5 including its central cut out 19, that can be self adhered using electrostatic attraction or adhered due to an integral adhesive to the disc playing surface in order to offer some protection to the disc 5 from incidental damage that may occur during disc 5 storage or use. The disc protection covering 17 can be applied quickly to music, data, movie or games discs 5 and will provide some protection from incidental damage that may otherwise render the disc 5 unplayable. The system will include a disc protection covering applicator 12 as indicated in figure 1 to make it easier to apply the disc protection covering 17 to the disc playing surface withou trapping air between the disc protection covering 17 and the disc 5 playing surface. A stack of protective coverings 7 is supported on a nonstick sheet 8 on a curved sponge or foam support 9. As the disk is pressed down the foam support is compressed, flattening the curved surface and progressively applying the protective covering. The lid 1 of the disc protection covering applicator device incorporates a wipe down sponge 2 to wipe away any air that is trapped between the disc protection covering 17 and the disc 5 playing surface during application.
