<p>The fabrication of a segment set with diamonds for a cutting tool consists of: - (A) preparing a mixture of metal powders with some diamond particles; - (B) preforming by cold compression to produce a manipulatable preformer; - (C) hot pre-sintering of the preformer to eliminate compacting residues and to deoxidise the preformer whilst assuring the onset of sintering; and - (D) submitting the preformer to a forging operation by the application, in a closed mould, to a mechanical pressure of between 400 and 70 MPa at a temperature of less than 1,000oC for some seconds. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for the segment set with diamonds for a cutting tool.</p> |
