A spot cleaning extraction cleaner comprises a housing with a bottom portion adapted to rest on a surface being cleaned and an opening in an underside of the housing to define an enclosed chamber 918 between the surface and an interior portion of the housing. A carriage assembly (510, fig 3) is mounted in the enclosed chamber 918 and an extraction system including a suction nozzle 718 and a suction source 512 is also included. The suction nozzle 718 is mounted to the carriage assembly (510, fig 3) and arranged so that it is able to move laterally with respect to the housing and an exhaust passage 930 carries exhaust air from the outlet of the suction source 512 back to the enclosed chamber 918. Alternatively the suction nozzle can be arranged to move circularly with respect to the surface being cleaned and a controller for controlling the direction of the motor 512 can be included. A strain relief assembly is also disclosed (figures 21, 22). |
