FIELD: electrochmistry; production of molecular oxygen by electrolysis of water due to energy of sunlight without external source of electrical current. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes decomposition of water at passing of electric current between electrodes immersed in water and connected by means of conductor at continuous illumination by sunlight of one of electrodes which is made in form of porous current-conducting substrate which is permeable for oxygen; this substrate is coated with film of purple membranes oriented to one side and containing bacteriorhodopsine molecules which are used for oriented transfer of hydrogen ion-proton. ^ EFFECT: facilitated procedure, enhanced ecology and safety. ^ 1 dwg
