A conveyer belt made from rubber or plastics material is reinforced with at least one layer of reinforcing members, each reinforcing member having its longitudinal axis extending along the belt and having a flattened cross-section. The cross-section may be of elliptical, rectangular or dumb-bell shape. The reinforcement may also be made of metal wires or strands wound, without touching each other, round a central core made from a material which becomes bonded with the belt material during manufacture. |
