A method to differentiate pathotypes of the potato canker pathogen Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilb) Perc. includes infestation of potato shoots with the canker pathogen and analysis thereof. The infestation by the pathotypes of the canker pathogen is carried out for one standard potato variety only, in particular Vale, which is carried out in the laboratory conditions using summer zoosporangia, contained in fresh canker outgrowths. The analysis is carried out in 21 days by a biochemical method of isoelectrofocusing of proteins in polyacrylamide gel in pH interval of 3-10. The differentiation of the pathotypes of the potato canker pathogen is carried out according to the protein spectra.
