<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in accordance with the weight of a rotary type developing device. <P>SOLUTION: The weight of the rotary developing device 1 is detected. As a method for detecting the weight of the rotary developing device 1, a method for detecting toner amount in each developing unit by a developing unit toner amount detection part 5, a method for detecting the irregular rotation of a motor 2 by an irregular rotation detection part 6, and a method for detecting toner consumption by a dot counter 7 are provided. By using all the methods or any of the methods, the weight of the rotary type developing device 1 is obtained from a conversion table 10 on the basis of a detected value by the method. A CPU 4 obtains motor output required for rotating the rotary type developing device 1 from the conversion table 10 on the basis of the obtained weight of the rotary type developing device 1 and controls a motor driver 3 on the basis of the obtained output. Namely, the CPU 4 performs control that the motor output is made lower (a motor current is made lower) as the weight of the rotary type developing device 1 is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
