PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro-step drive method for stepping motors, adapted to simplify the circuit configuration of micro-step drive device for stepping motors. SOLUTION: The device is configured to include a pulse width modulation signal generating portion 10 for generating a PWM signal f with a pulse width, varying from maximum level to a minimum level letting 1 step period of full step to be 1 cycle, a phase excitation counter 20, a phase distribution circuit portion 30 for distributing either of HIGH-level signal, LOW-level signal, or PWM signal f to each phase, in a pattern in line with the steps that the phase excitation counter 20 indicates, and a drive circuit portion 40 for generating phase currents for each phase, based on phase-distributed signals. The phase distribution circuit portion 30 is configured to distribute PWM signals f to one phase from among all the phases for each of full steps, while making HIGH-level signals, LOW-level signals transit to the other phases, as well as, to transfer sequentially the distributed phases of the PWM signals f in phase rotation direction, as the step proceeds.
