<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of an image defect due to abrasion of a photoreceptor regarding an image forming apparatus equipped with the photoreceptor. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with: a photoreceptor; an electrostatic charging means for electrostatically charging the photoreceptor; an exposing means for exposing the photoreceptor to form an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor; a developing means for developing the electrostatic latent image by a toner to form a toner image on the photoreceptor; a transfer means for transferring the toner image to a transfer material; and a fixing means for fixing the toner image to the transfer material. The developing means implements the contact operation with the photoreceptor and the retreat operation from the photoreceptor on an outer side of the largest image region of the photoreceptor both in the case in which the toner image is formed on the photoreceptor relating to the largest image supported by the image forming apparatus, and in the case in which the image is formed on the photoreceptor relating to the image other than the largest image supported by the image forming apparatus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
