PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic cash register which can effectively promote sales while reducing operator's load. SOLUTION: An article determination section 110, a coupon determination section 111 and an operation section 112 are set in the electronic cash register. The article determination section 110 registers article information about the purchased article in an article specification table 104 based on article identification information 101. Then, if a coupon for the purchased article is registered in the coupon check table 103, the article information on the purchased article is registered by applying a discount of the coupon. The coupon determination section 111 registers the coupon information in the coupon check table 103 based on coupon identification information 102. At this time, if the target article of the coupon is registered in an article description table 104, the article information on the purchased article is updated by applying the discount of the coupon.
