摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cross section form capable of minimizing a weight increase and obtaining high shaft compression strength in a cross member in aluminum extrusion material. SOLUTION: This cross member for the automobile is composed of a rectangular closed section part 2 and projecting flanges 3-6 projected outward in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle body from an edge part of the closed section part in view of the cross section vertical to the extrusion direction. The closed cross section portion 2 is composed of a pair of flanges 7, 8 disposed in parallel to each other and on an upper side and a lower side of the vehicle body and a pair of webs 9, 10 which are vertical to the flanges and face the upper and lower direction of the vehicle body. A thicknesses T of the flanges 7, 8 composed of the closed cross section portion 2 and thicknesses t of the projecting flanges satisfy the relation of the following expression (1), and a ratio B/T of plate width B to the thicknesses T of the flanges 7, 8 and a ratio b/t of the plate width b to the thicknesses t of the projecting flanges satisfy the relation of the following expression (2).
