The arrangement has an overload protection device arranged such that the device bypasses overload current in case of short circuit so that current through an electrical component (1) which is to be protected does not exceed a maximum current limit. The overload protection device comprises nonlinear current/voltage characteristics and has a diode (4). A coil is in series connection with the electrical component. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method of protecting an electrical component in an airplane against overload (2) a locomotion unit comprising an overload protection device.
