<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method capable of suppressing rise of residual potential of a photoreceptor in repetitive use so as to form high durability and high definition images, and is capable of high-speed image output with high durability. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: at least an electrostatic latent image carrier; an electrostatic latent image forming device for forming an electrostatic latent image on the electrostatic latent image carrier; a developing device for developing the electrostatic latent image with toner to form a visible image; a transfer device for transferring the visible image to a recording medium; a fixing device for fixing the transferred image transferred to the recording medium; and a charge eliminating device for optically-eliminating residual charges on the electrostatic latent image carrier, wherein the charge eliminating device illuminates light having a wavelength shorter than 500 nm, the electrostatic latent image carrier has a support and a photosensitive layer comprising at least a charge generating layer and a charge transport layer on the support, and an organic charge generating material is contained in the charge generating layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
