摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new pyridoxal 4-dehydrogenase (PLDH) exhibiting advantageous properties on the utilization of a 4-pyridoxolactone-producing reaction, because the enzyme having satisfactory activity has not been known as the pyridoxal 4-dehydrogenase for acting on pyridoxal to produce the pyridoxolactone. <P>SOLUTION: This new PLDH originated from a microorganism belonging to genus Mesorhizobium or a microorganism belonging to genus Agrobacterium, and a DNA encoding the same are provided. The 4-pyridoxolactone and 4-pyridoxic acid can be produced by dehydrogenating pyrodoxal with the PLDH. Further, the enzyme can be utilized to provide excellent vitamin B6-determining method/reagent.
