<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively use resource data not stored in a device without relying on memory capacities of respective printers. <P>SOLUTION: In an inexpensive printer not having an HDD, when resource data necessary for a printing process is not in possession, a warning is given to a user, encrypted resource data is downloaded by a host from a network and stored in an external storage medium, and the printing process is resumed by attaching the external storage medium to the printer, and reading and using the decrypted resource data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
