PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording device which can carry out calibration based on visual patch selection, with high accuracy and in a manner using a relatively small number of patches, and to provide a calibration method. SOLUTION: According to the calibration method, patch recording and selection of patches that look like a true gray are carried out in two stages (S52, S53, and S54, S55). In this case, with respect to one color in patch data in a second group in the second stage, patch data having the same correction amount as that of patch data corresponding to a correction table determined in the first stage, is employed. Thus the patches of respective colors in the second group can be recorded in a manner maintaining the inclination of an ejection amount of a recording head of a color which is to be corrected according to the determined correction table, and therefore the number of the patches to be recorded is reduced. Further by selecting the patches that look like the true gray, the selection of the patches is not varied, and correct patch selection is achieved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
