PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver capable of preventing a viewer from feeling sense of incongruity when adjusting characteristics of video and voice output on the basis of a genre of a program. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast receiver has a setting storage means 12 for storing setting information in which video characteristics and voice characteristics are set for each genre information; a video signal generation means 6 for adjusting the characteristics of video signals; a voice signal generation means 7 for adjusting the characteristics of voice signals; and a control means 11 which monitors the genre information included in the extracted program content data, reads out the setting information in the changed genre from the setting storage means 12 when the change of the genre information is detected, and controls the video signal generation means 6 and the voice signal generation means 7 so as to change the characteristics step by step by a prescribed change amount for each prescribed period of time on the basis of the read-out setting information.
