PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unnecessary power consumption to prevent the lifetime of a lamp from being made short, in a projector having an optical disk reproducing device mounted thereon. SOLUTION: It is determined whether an optical disk D has been loaded to an optical disk reproducing part 20 for reproducing image data recorded on an optical disk or not (S102), and a power source of a lamp 10 is controlled so as to obtain a prescribed illuminance (S103) in the case that the optical disk D has been loaded. The power source of the light source is controlled so as to obtain an illuminance lower than the prescribed illuminance in the case that the optical disk D has been not loaded to the optical disk reproducing part 20 (S105).
