PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a check valve for a fuel pump having a ball made of ceramics as a valve element, capable of inhibiting cracks of the ball even when valve closing pressure is set high, and excellent in durability. SOLUTION: A seat portion for the ball 2 in a seat surface 13 formed in a check valve main body 1 is constructed to be an annular surface 13b having a curvature larger than the curvature of the ball 2 so that the ball 2 contacts with the annular surface 13b in a band-like area S. Stress acting on the ball 2 is made small even at high valve closing pressure and occurrence of cracks of the ball 2 is inhibited. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
