<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device and a driving method for a luminescent display panel which can reduce shadowing caused by a lighting rate of a light emitting element and a condition of dimmer setting, to such a level that there is no problem on practical use. <P>SOLUTION: An analog video signal is supplied to a driving control circuit 11 and an A/D conversion circuit 12 and is converted to image data corresponding to individual pixels by the A/D conversion circuit 12 and is written in an image memory 13. A lighting rate of the light emitting element is obtained on the basis of the image data written in the image memory 13, and period control data for controlling a period t1 of each scan line is read out from a lookup table 14 on the basis of the lighting rate and dimmer setting data. The period t1 from a timing of application of a reverse bias voltage to a non-scan line to a timing of supply of a constant current as a light emission driving current to a lighting line is controlled by the period control data, and as a result, the occurrence of shadowing is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
