The invention relates to a power generation device. The inventive device comprises: a support frame (1); a rack (3) which is mounted such that it can move vertically along guide means that are defined in the casing (1); elastic means which act on the rack (3), maintaining same in an upper position; a unidirectionally-rotating pinion (8) which can be actuated by the rack (3) and which is mounted to a drive shaft (81) that is connected to an electrical generator (4); and an actuation plate (6) which is intended to be positioned on a transverse channel (21) defined in a running track or road (2), in which the generator is housed. The operation of the actuation plate can generate the lowering of the rack (3), the rotation of the drive shaft (81) and the actuation of the generator (4), when said plate is pressed and deformed elastically by the wheels (7) of passing vehicles.
