PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an optimized restart after a halt during a treatment in a shock wave system equipped with a shock wave source for generating a shock wave for a treatment of a patient. SOLUTION: The impact wave system is equipped with the shock wave source for generating a shock wave for the treatment of the patient. After the halt during the treatment, the shock wave energy starts from an initial energy value EAW given in advance, automatically continues in an energy step 2 given in advance, and is increased to a final energy value EEW which is applied last before the halt of the treatment and is stored.
