PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a therapeutic apparatus using an ion beam, capable of reducing the time for positioning a bed of the apparatus. SOLUTION: The therapeutic apparatus using the ion beam has a rotary gantry in which an ion beam irradiating device with an X-ray tube is set. An X-ray detecting device with a plurality of X-ray detectors is set movably in the direction of rotation axis of the rotary gantry. The bed on which a patient lies is moved so that an affected part is approximately located on the extension line of the ion beam path of the irradiation device. The X-ray tube is located on the ion beam path, and the X-ray detecting device is located on the extension line of the ion beam path. The X-ray tube and the X-ray detecting device are revolved around the patient according to the rotation of the rotary gantry. The X rays are applied to the patient, and transmit the patient to be detected by the X-ray detectors. Information on the tomographic image of the patient is prepared based on signals outputted from the X-ray detectors, and information on positioning of the bed is prepared using the information on the tomographic image.
