PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide mechanism of a portable apparatus in which open/close operation can be carried out stably, and to provide a portable telephone equipped with that slide mechanism. SOLUTION: The slide mechanism of a portable apparatus comprises a slide case 5 being fixed to a second case 3, a slider 6 being fixed to a first case 2 while engaging with the slide case 5 slidably, a slide plate 7 having a central portion fixed to the slider 6, two locking portions 8 projecting from the opposite ends of the slider plate 7, a close engaging portion 9a provided in the slide case 5 to engage with only one of the two locking portions 8 under closed state and an open engaging portion 9b engaging with only the other of the two locking portions 8 under open state, and a resilient means 10 provided between the opposite ends of the slide plate 7 and the slider 6 and pressing each locking portion 8 to the slide case 5 side.
