PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printing device which can improve operationality upon printing error and can readily cut a printed label by automatically feeding a tape when the printing error in which a letter row protrudes from the printing area of the tape occurs. SOLUTION: When a print key is depressed after inputting character strings to set a tape length, a printing dot image data of the input character string is generated. If the printing length of the dot image data is smaller than the set tape length (S47: YES), a printing process of printing the dot image on the tape by a printing mechanism is performed (S49). When the printing length of the printing dot image is longer than the set tape length (S47: No), the printing process is stopped (S54), the printing tape is fed by the amount corresponding to a printing cut interval length (S55), and a message which urges cutting is shown in a display (S56).
