PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ink from scattering by reducing the ink deposit quantity to an eradication member at the time of a meniscus formation. SOLUTION: An ink jet recording apparatus comprises an ink jet head 1 which ejects the ink drop from a nozzle hole according to the driving of an actuator and an eradication member 3 which cleans the nozzle surface 1' of this ink jet head. The eradication member 3 performs the eradication operation of multiple times after the ink suction, at least, the eradication operation is performed by the non-contact with the nozzle surface 1' at the time of the 1st eradication (Fig. (A)), and at least, the eradication operation is performed by the contact with the nozzle surface 1' at the time of the last eradication (Fig. (B)).
