The invention concerns a flat display provided with a liquid crystal element (26), such as a LCD element, for displaying an image. A plurality of point light sources, such as LED's (32), are also provided. A light guiding element (34) is arranged between the point light sources (32) and the liquid crystal element (26). To achieve a homogeneous distribution of luminosity, the light guiding element (34) has, on one surface (36), a plurality of surface diffracting elements (44) arranged in cells (38). |
