摘要 The invention relates to a friction welding process in which the components to be welded are rubbed against one another, in particular in a rotating manner, at the welding site. The aim here is to weld together the components that are to be welded with high dimensional accuracy and process reliability. This is achieved by determining at the beginning of the friction welding process the elastic deformation of the friction welding machine - clamping means - components system and using it to calculate a spring constant, on the basis of which the advancing displacements to be covered (initial frictional displacement, frictional displacement and amount of burn-off) are corrected by the elastic deformation of the friction welding machine - clamping means - components system and the friction welding process is controlled in terms of the advancing displacement with automatically controlled advancing force. Process reliability is in this case ensured by the advancing displacements that are covered both when the components are moved together and when the components are moved apart being recorded and compared in the determination of the elastic deformation of the friction welding machine - clamping means - components system and the friction welding process being terminated if there are deviations that cannot be eliminated. With the friction welding process according to the invention, tolerances of the welded components of ±10 µm can be achieved, it being possible for the initial tolerances of the components that have not been welded to be up to ±1 mm.
