The current regulator has a semiconductor body (1) having two connection contacts (11,12). A transistor (21) with a control port and a load path is integrated in the semiconductor body, such that the load path runs between the connection contacts of the semiconductor body. A sensing resistor (22) is arranged in a section of the load path of the transistor. An evaluation and control circuit (3) is connected to the sensing resistor to control the transistor based on the voltage of the sensing resistor.
