The invention relates to a method of producing a housing for a mower cutter bar and to the housing thus produced. The invention is characterised in that it comprises the following successive steps consisting in: forming the upper plate (1) and the lower plate (3) of the housing; assembling the formed upper plate (1) and the formed lower plate (3) by means of welding in order to form a casing (6); and cutting holes (7) into the casing (6) using a laser beam, said holes being intended to receive the disc bearings and the intermediary drive pinions.
