<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floor material for a staircase allowing simple replacement of nonslip members alone and having the nonslip member surely fixed thereon to avoid drop out, which material can be put into use immediately after completion of installation work. <P>SOLUTION: An elongated groove 4 is formed in parallel with a nosing 3 in the vicinity of the nosing 3 of a tread covering section 1, and a strip-like nonslip member 5 to be fitted in the groove 4 is formed. The nonslip member 5 is bonded to the groove 4 with a pressure-sensitive adhesive.
