PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for fuel cell superior in stability of output with the passage of time by progressing efficiently an oxidation reaction and a reduction reaction. SOLUTION: The electrode for fuel cell contains an electron conductor layer in which holes 10 communicating from the surface to the rear face of the layer is formed at a density of 10 pcs./cm<SP>2</SP>or more in a nearly vertical direction to the plane direction of the layer. The holes carry a catalyst and are formed either by molding or by punching. The fuel cell is a direct methanol fuel cell and uses the above electrode for at least one of an anode electrode and a cathode electrode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
