PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core type run-flat pneumatic tire capable of enhancing the run-flat durability without impairing the ride quality and the weather resistance during the normal traveling. SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire 1 which is rim-assembled to a wheel together with a core, a projecting part 12 continuous in the tire circumferential direction is formed in a range R of an outer surface of a side wall part 3 from the position P of the maximum width of the tire section to the point Q of 80% of the height of the tire section. The Lambourn abrasion resistance index specified in JIS K6250 of a rubber to constitute the projecting part 12 is set to be higher than a rubber of the range of the side wall part 3 except the projecting part 12 by 5%.
