PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and weight of an intake guide device forming a muffling chamber, by disposing the muffling chamber in a space for work connecting a connection part of a throttle valve, which is provided near a body of a valve device having the throttle valve, with an operation mechanism. SOLUTION: An intake device for an internal combustion engine comprises: the intake guide device 50 having an upstream guide part G1 including a first muffling part S1 forming a first muffling chamber 54 and a downstream guide part G2 including a second muffling part S2 forming a second muffling chamber 55; a carbureter 80 having a throttle valve; and an operation mechanism 91 connected with a lever 83a of the throttle valve. In the first muffling part S1, the upstream guide part G1 is detachably connected with the downstream guide part G2 so as to take a first form wherein the first muffling part S1 is disposed to the space P for work connecting the lever 83a with the operation mechanism 91 to vertically cover the lever 83a, or a second form wherein the first muffling part S1 is not disposed in the space P.
