THE MOLD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF PLATE BILLET

The present invention discloses a built-up mold for continuous casting of metal, which is consisted of two broad plates and two narrow plates. In the two sides of each narrow plate, i.e. the inner sides of the ends of each broad plate, there is a protrusion of right triangle at the whole length of narrow plate. The bevel of the protrusion of right triangle points to the cavity formed by the four plates. One side of right triangle protrusion connects with the inner surface of the narrow plate; the other side of right triangle protrusion and the side of the narrow plate are in the same plane, i.e. the other side of right triangle protrusion extends in the side of the narrow plate. The bevel may be a flat surface or a concave cambered surface. The structure of the mold of present invention is simple and reasonable. The four triangle protrusions change the corner shape of the cavity of the mold, the cooling of corners of the mold is improved, therefore the surface defects caused by the uneven cooling of corners of plate billet and the crack problem caused by low temperature of corners while rolling are prevented.
