PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus for a mobile object, which detects erroneous communication information and secures the appropriate operation of a communication system, and to provide a communication method for the mobile object. SOLUTION: The apparatus is mounted on a vehicle and communicates information including the position information with other vehicles. Whether or not transmission signals transmitted from the plurality of other vehicles are simultaneously received is determined (S14), and when the transmission signals transmitted from the plurality of other mobile objects are simultaneously received, whether or not the plurality of other vehicles are present inside a communication area where they are communicable with each other is determined on the basis of the position information of the transmission signals (S18), and at least part of the position information of the transmission signals is determined as erroneous information when the plurality of other mobile objects are present inside the communication area where they are communicable with each other (S20).
