<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform communication between at lest two local networks. <P>SOLUTION: This information processing apparatus 102 is connected to a first local network 105 and a second local network 104. The apparatus 102 forms a first IP address and a second IP address for the first local network 105, which are not used by the second local network 104 side and confirms whether the first IP address and the second IP address are used in the second local network 104 and a network 110, which is connected to the second local network 104 via a router. When it is decided that the first IP address is not used, the first IP address is determined as the IP address of the side of a first local network of an external controller 102.
