PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate correction by preventing the occurrence of abnormal shading data. SOLUTION: An image reader includes: a read means for optically image-forming an original in an imaging device and reading it as image data; and an image processing means for applying prescribed image processing to the image data read in the read means, wherein a reference whiteboard is read in the imaging device, the data of the pixel of the reference whiteboard are captured in a white reference data capture part 1, and shading data are prepared by performing an additional average calculation in an additional average calculation processing part 2. In the case that there is the pixel of the data smaller than an additional average calculation result value to the previous line by a prescribed value, a CPU 3 replaces the shading calculation result value of the previous time with the value of the pixel and prepares pseudo shading data.
