摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect a defective region that appears in an image in a digital camera, and to efficiently correct it into proper image. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 100 comprises a histogram creation part 42, a defect candidate region decision part 43, a defective region decision part 44 and a defect correction part 45 for automatically detecting and correcting a defective region which can be included in image data acquired via a film scanner 1 and an image data acquisition part 2. When there is a pixel having a pixel value equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold, on the basis of a created histogram, the defect candidate region decision part 43 decides the pixel as a defect candidate region. The defective region decision part 44 compares the pixel decided as a defect candidate region with a plurality of other images and decides it as a defective region when a position in an image in the defect candidate region matches any one of the plurality of other images. The defect correction part 45 refers to colors, densities and the like of peripheral pixels and corrects the pixel (region) decided as a defective region into proper image.
