PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector having a structure which facilitates manufacture of a different kind of optical connector with a light shielding member arranged at the tip end of the optical connector body and which also facilitates connection and optical coupling between optical connectors without breaking an optical transmission line. SOLUTION: This optical connector has a structure; in which an elongated projected piece (not shown) installed in a light shielding member 4 including an arraying member 4b for an optical transmission line 6 is guided to a recess (not shown) provided in the optical connector body 1 on the jack side to form an optical connector on the jack side; in which a shortened projected piece (not shown) installed in a light shielding member 5 not including an arraying member for an optical transmission line 7 is guided to a groove (not shown) provided in the optical connector body 3 on the plug side to form an optical connector on the plug side; and in which the light shielding members 4, 5 are made to be respectively inserted into the optical connector body 3, wherein each light shielding member 4, 5 is made to slide in contact and slidingly operated in the dimensional L in the fitting direction, until the end faces of the connector bodies 1, 3 are abutted and brought in contact, with alignment completed including the optical transmission lines 6, 7.
