PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly stable external composition for skin having a refreshing feeling of use and further comprising an oil having antiseptic properties. SOLUTION: The external composition for skin is characterized as comprising a tetritol diether represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>represent each a hydrocarbon group and are characterized in that the average number of carbons in R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>is within the range of 5-8).
