<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment method which hardly causes the contamination of an RO membrane due to organic matter, capable of preventing the fouling of the RO membrane even if no sterilizing agent is added and enabling high flux operation, and a water treatment apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: Water to be treated is passed through a photocatalytic reaction column 1, an activated carbon column 2, an ion exchange resin column 3 and an RO membrane device 4 in series.
